Enhancing the education of our youths is a big priority for the team here at Unistage. While our day-to-day work involves helping schools and higher-education establishments deliver education in an effective way with our stages, we also like to get involved with other educational events too.
One of the events we’ve been involved with this year is National Careers Week. Taking place between 2nd-7th March, the event focuses on providing careers guidance for young people leaving education and it’s greatly enhanced by the support of the local community.
National Careers Week celebrates the very best of careers and opportunities out there for young people. Knowing that the big wide world can be a scary and intimidating place, the event aims to provide young adults with resources and information on current career opportunities through workshops, career fairs and employer visits.
With youth unemployment at a high, National Careers Week helps to provide young adults with the confidence they need to go out there and get a job; to discover what they can do with their talents and learn what really makes them tick.

Minimising unemployment in your locality and inspiring local youths are two of the biggest reasons a business should get involved – and exactly why we decided to play a part in the initiative.
National Careers Week inspires young adults to achieve their full potential and is full of engaging and enterprising ideas. As a business you can give presentations and provide tailored workshops to those who need it – which is both rewarding and inspiring at the same time.
So if your firm can offer advice and/or placements, it’s certainly worth thinking about getting involved in 2016’s event. You never know what bright sparks you might find!
This year, we’ve had a fantastic time working with youngsters across the North West. We were involved in Darwen Aldridge Community Academy’s event, giving out tips and advice on life skills and employment and helping the young adults get ready for the world of work.
We were also involved in the Careers Ambassadors Event at Manchester United FC. With pupils from 16 schools in Greater Manchester present, Unistage, along with other local employers celebrated a whole host of careers.
The event included workshops such as a careers speed dating session and tailored activities focusing specifically on STEM careers. Students were also able to visit Unistage in the market place and ask away with all their careers-related questions.
