Coventry Cathedral Chorus

Coventry Cathedral Chorus approached Unistage to see if we could help with parts of their modular tiering setup that had been condemned due to various factors, the main one being age.

Once they had a quick demo of our lightweight 750mm x 900mm tiering units they wanted to purchase a completely new setup instead of replacing certain parts of it.

The tiering was to fit inside a space between 2 pulpits which is where it would be erected 90% of the time. We came up with a solution which offered the cathedral the capacity to seat roughly 140 people in this space whilst only going up to a height of 1.08metres, which was a god send (no pun intended!) when compared to their old cumbersome setup which was nearly double the height for no more seating.

The finish on the birch ply 18mm Uni-decks was our standard clear anti-slip lacquer whilst the metal work was powder coated in a light grey colour. Fascia’s were provided to define the walkways whilst our simple easy to attach magnetic chair stop rails are always supplied as a safety measure to stop any chair legs slipping through the gaps.

The 112 frames provided all store compactly away over 4 of our wheeled storage shuttles, with each taking up a floorspace of 1.2m diameter. We have managed to save the Cathedral over half of the storage space the old setup used whilst being stored away.

The weight of each unit, the time taken to erect the whole setup, the ease of use regarding the safety rails and magnetic chair stop rails and compact storage were all major improvements that were mentioned on the day of the install.
